I was looking to start training for both swim and cycle I am a little nervous as I am not very good. Do you accept total beginers in these areas? could you advise me on this.

      Linda,

The best beginners cycle is on Thursday night in the Phoenix park and the best beginners swim session is the Friday night swim in Belvedere pool. Just pop along to one of those training sessions.

      Brian.

    Hi guys,
Looking at doing some sprint triathlons in the coming months and would likevto get involved with a club, as I find training is much easier in a group. Just wondering how best to go about joining the club.
Would it be possible to come along to some training sessions to see how I get on.
    Cheers

      Frantz,

Yes, pop along to the Tuesday run intervals in Bushy Park or for an easier session there’s the Thursday night circuits and core work in Bushy park. Both start at 6:30pm next to the children’s playground.

      Brian.

    Hi,

I have never done any triathlon training. I would be interested in joining your club.
I am currently cycling approx 100km per week (14km per day and 30-40 km in one session at weekends). I am also running 4km 3 times a week. I participated in competitive swimming when I was younger and have not started my swimming training yet. How do I go about becomming a member of your club.

    Regards,

    Niall Lynch.

      Hi Niall,
You”ll have a head-start in triathlon that most envy – a background in swimming!
If you’re free this Saturday make sure to come along to our beginners bike spin – we are meeting at 9:30am at the Rathfarnham WSAF clubhouse on Main St in Rathfarnham. This will be a good chance to see what we are about (and have a spin!)
We also have a new members meet and greet evening on Saturday night at the same location (8pm) so make sure you come along to that too.

Regarding membership, you can join the club by going to the members section of the Triathlon Ireland website.
Here you can join the club for just €20 which will enable you to go on all our runs and cycles free of charge. Triathlon Ireland membership is also needed for insurance purposes (important but practically never used). This starts at €15 for a non-racing member and €50 for a one-year-race licence.

      Hope that helps!
      Kevin Keane

    Hi Mark,
We have quite a few duathletes in the club so you won’t be alone in not liking swimming! Just come along to the Tuesday run session or the Saturday club spin and we can take it from there, the details for times etc are here http://www.athleticsrathfarnham.ie/index.php/training
