Sign-on Starts Sunday, Runways – Parnell Street 0

When: Opens on Sunday, April 29th, at 13:00
Where: Runways Store on Parnell Street for next Wednesday’s Duathlon.
It will remain open until 3pm on Wednesday afternoon. Store opening hours are 9.30am – 6pm.
Race Day Sign-On
Note that if you enter for the race from Sunday morning you will have to sign-on on the race evening (6-6:45pm) in the Phoenix Park and you will have to queue. Enter online before Monday morning and you can sign-on in Runways and you won’t have to queue on race night.
There will be entries on the night at the higher price of €20 (which is still cheaper than any other duathlon within a 50 mile radius).

A big turnout for the 2011 Duathlon Training in the Phoenix Park
We’re running a practice session on the Duathlon Course on Wednesday the 25th of April. This is ideal for both beginners as well as people looking to shave seconds off their times.
Meet before 7:15pm at the transition area at the top of the Kyber Hill, close to the Papal cross. Google street view & map
Duathlon Training Schedule
7:15pm – Warm-up and stretches
7:20pm – 2.7km Run of the Duathlon run loop.
7:35pm – transition review
7:45pm – 4km cycle of the Duathlon bike loop to be done once easy and once faster.
8:15pm go home.

Duathlon League and Scoring 0

To add an extra dimension to the Dublin Duathlons, we’ve linked up the Phoenix Park Duathlons and the HellFire Duathlon to create the Dublin Duathlon Summer league.
The scoring is based on the system used by the International Triathlon Union (ITU) for their World Cup Triathlon Series, with 800 points for the winner and your best three results from the seven duathlons will be counted. Full details of the scoring system are below the league table.
In the event of a tie break your best 4 results will be counted. This system will reward competitors for consistently high performance ensuring that the league winner is deserving.
The winner will receive a €200 voucher our sponsor as well as bragging rights till next summer. The grand final will be the F1 Duathlon in the Phoenix Park where the league winner will be presented with their prize.

Phoenix Park is 350 years old in 2012.
Dublin’s Phoenix Park is 350 year’s old in 2012.
As part of the celebrations there’s a whole series of events that can be seen here (350 Programme listing).
Of particular interest for the Duathlons is the Photography competition. Get you sister, husband, mother to take your photo as you in the Phoenix Park Duathlons.

Fancy yourself as a budding photographer? Well why not dust off your camera and take some pictures in the Phoenix Park. The pictures can be of anything, Nature, Buildings, or animals anywhere in the Park. Why not share your experience of the Park by uploading the photos or if you have some old photos of the Park in years gone by then you can also submit these to the competition by scanning them and submitting them.
