winter bikeCycle Training - 2009

The club bike training sessions are based around 4 week rotation of routes, with a mixture of flat, hilly and mountain cycles. The main cycle is on Saturday mornings. Click on any icon below for a route map.

Flat routes

60km: Dublin, Tallaght, Saggart, Newcastle,Celbridge, Maynooth, Lexlip, Lucan, Phoenix Park.

100km: Dublin, Tallaght, Saggart, Newcastle,Celbridge, Maynooth, Summerhill, Dunboyne, Clonee, Phoenix Park.

Undulating Hills

Map60km: Small lakes - Dublin, Tallaght, Brittas, Manor Kilbride, Blessington, Briitas, Tallaght, Dublin.

Map100km: Big lakes - Dublin, Tallaght, Ballinascorey, Brittas, Manor Kilbride, Lacken, Ballyknocken, Valleymount, Blessington, Briitas, Tallaght, Dublin.

Big Hills

Map65km: Glencree 8 - Dublin, Bothar na Breen, Feather Beds, Glencree, Enniscerry, Powerscourt, Glencree, Feather beds, Kilakee, Dublin.

Map85Km: Vertical milage - Dublin, Bothar na Breen, Feather Beds, Glencree, Sally Gap, Douce Mountain car park, Powerscourt, Glencree, Feather beds, Kilakee, Dublin.

 

Saturday  9:30am - Clubhouse

December-Easter (base training : steady spins in large groups) 4 week rotation of flat, undulating hills, flat, big hills.

Easter-end of May (pre-season : faster spins in smaller groups) 4 week rotation of flat, undulating hills, flat, big hills.

June-September (main triathlon season : just ticking over, no extra fitness to be gained here) Flat cycles of 2h length.

All rotations start on the first Saturday of the month, with a flat cycle.

Two groups 90min beginner group, 3hrs fast group. Road or Tri bike required.

Sunday

You'll find that there are smaller groups who go out on a Sunday to build up extra base miles, tackle a few of the mountain bike trails, get in some post race easy miles etc. These sessions usually get sorted out on the Saturday spin, so another reason to pop along.
