    Hi,
I am currently trying to train for a few sprint triathlons coming up and am interested in joining a triathlon club. I was just wondering how I go about joining Belpark? Do I just print off the application form, send it in and someone will contact me or can I come along to a training session and see how it goes before I join?
    Regards
    Sinead

Hi! I have never attempted to even train for a triathlon before, and I havent ran long distances competitively before, but I love to run cycle and swim! As a complete triathlon newbie I was wondering should I try to reach a certain level of fitness before joining the clubs running and swimming sessions? And should I invest in a long distance road bike or something? or would it be okay to stick with my old mountain bike when Im just starting off? I would really appreciate any help or advice!

Hi Ciara, you can come along to the run sessions on a tuesday in Nutgrove at 6.30. We run with Rathfarnham WSAF athletics club and there are varying levels of run ability. We generally do interval sessions but if you pop along, you will get a sense of the running session. As regards the bike, for our bike sessions, you would need a road bike if you come out with a group. We have varying levels on the bike sessions- on a saturday there is a beginner group that does 60km. If you are not at that distance yet, no worries, there may be a few people in a similar situation as you that you could link up with. The friday night swim sessions also caters for different levels. We have 5 lanes of the pool so people go in a lane according to their swim speed. Helen

Hi Sinead, a run session is the perfect opportunity for starting, we do an interval session each Tuesday evening with Rathfarnham WSAF in Bushy Park, meet at 6:30pm at the children’s playground. Lots of the those present are exclusively runners but we always have a few triathletes in their midst so just ask about and they will make you feel welcome.
